Baby Sign Language

We are planning on teaching the baby some basic sign language.

We have seen friends teach their children to sign and it is amazing! Some basic signs are really all that is needed to communicate effectively with the youngster.

This is a good primer here for some more information.

Baby...

Just a few quick things....

Mike is 90% ish sure he likes the name Ezekiel. And the baby has been pretty active lately. So active that at times he is interacting with Mom. She can press into her belly and the baby kicks back! Pretty cool. He is now so strong that we can see movement when we look at Betsy's belly. I am sure there will be videos of that coming up sometime soon.

If you hadn't played with the baby ticker over on the left, scroll the mouse over the numbers and click.... there is a setting for days left, days done and months/ days old... fun stuff.

The nursery is the big news lately, I suppose. The "reconstruction" phase is pretty much done.... now comes the "decorating" phase. We aren't sure what is going up on the walls. I think some black and white nature-scenic photos might look nice, but maybe not so nursery-like.

Anyway...

"Nesting"

Betsy says "you know you are really nesting when you iron the dust ruffles!"

Thought that was funny....

Nursery

The nursery is coming along!

Betsy and I had some long lost friends come up to visit us from Utah this last weekend. It was wonderful to see them, we had quite an adventure and spent the rest of the weekend recovering... but they also brought us a crib! We were elated. A big huge thank you to Todd and Carolyn!

The room, as far as the remodeling phase, is done as well. The chair rail is up, spackled and painted. It was a fun project with lots of corners. I think it turned out pretty good for my first attempt at molding of any kind. The green looks fantastic with the cribbing.

Progress

We have been working on the nursery! We decided it is a "go" with the Wendy Belissimo blue camo crib set, so with that in mind Betsy headed on down to Home Depot to get some color patches. We decided on Bear "Boston Fern"... a nice shade of deep green. Not to deep that it makes the room feel like a cave, not to light that it isn't bold. We like it. And I got some Boston in the room, even if it isn't Red Sox oriented...

We batted around the idea of wainscoting. In the end though, we decided on a chair rail with an accent below it.

So with the room cleared out, the trim taped off, the drop cloth dropped.... we began. Betsy did the corners, Mike handled the roller and we knocked it out pretty quickly. Mike patched some holes here and there from old stuff no longer hanging on the walls (goodbye Osceola turkeys, for now!) and also touched up the original paint on the top half.

This weekend we'll install the chair rail.
